Regular health checks for your furry or feathery family members are as important as your own.
Why wait until your pet is very sick before you come to the vet? Regular health checks with the vet are important in maintaining the good health of your furry or feathery family member and provide the opportunity to discuss any concerns or queries before a health matter worsens or develops. Animals may disguise the extent of their ill health and since they cannot tell us what is happening or what they are feeling, it can be difficult to know something is wrong until it is quite serious.
It is recommended that health checks are done annually for young healthy animals. For our senior friends or those with ongoing medical conditions, a health is generally recommended to be carried out more frequently. Every 6 months is the general time frame however, those with medical conditions may be advised to have more frequent checks by their vet.
A physical examination is carried out by the vet during the time of your pet’s health check. It is also the best time to point out any problems you would like the vet to particularly pay attention to or ask any questions about any issues that have arisen since the last health check.
Depending on any issues raised/found, a further work up such as a blood test may be required. Further tests can be carried out using in-house equipment.
